Be Still Devotional: Day 3

Devotion for Wednesday February 12
by Kristen Campbell | Women's Ministry Director
Scripture
Deuteronomy 3:22
You shall not fear them, for it is the LORD your God who fights for you.
Devotional Thought
From an early age, I struggled with fear so much that I earned the nickname “Worry Wart.” Fear is a powerful emotion. It can paralyze us, change our perspective, and make life seem overwhelming. In Deuteronomy 3:22, God reminds His people that fear has no place when He is on their side. As Israel prepared to face powerful enemies, the Lord reassured them that the battle was not theirs, but His.
We may not face literal armies, but life has its own battles—financial struggles, health issues, or relational conflicts. These challenges can feel overwhelming, tempting us to give up. But the Bible reminds us over seventy times to “fear not.” This repeated command invites us to shift our focus from the size of our problems to the greatness of our God.
He is the same God who parted the Red Sea and raised Jesus from the grave. He calls us to stand firm, not because of our strength but because of His. And if He fights for us, who or what can stand against us? What a relief that we can lay our fears at the feet of Jesus because fear is not from the Lord.
We can hold fast to the promise of God’s protection by understanding that the presence of fear does not mean the absence of God. Today, whatever trials you are facing, remember this promise: do not fear them. The Lord, your God, is with you, fighting for you. Lay your burdens at His feet and rest in His power and faithfulness.
Reflection questions
Suggested prayer/action step
Next time you feel fearful, remember, just because you feel fear doesn’t mean you have to be afraid. Recite Deuteronomy 3:22, saying, “My God will fight for me.”

Reflection questions
- Do you see the presence of God when you are afraid, or do you let fear overwhelm you?
- What do you need to lay down at the feet of Christ so that He can fight for you?
Suggested prayer/action step
Next time you feel fearful, remember, just because you feel fear doesn’t mean you have to be afraid. Recite Deuteronomy 3:22, saying, “My God will fight for me.”
