A Note from Pastor Roger

Dear Church Family,
I’m so excited to be back in the pulpit at our West U Baptist campus this weekend as we step another week into 2025 with expectant faith. Last Sunday, I got to do something that I don’t often get to do: I attended a Community Group class and worship with my wife and kids. It was one of the highlights of my week to be able to sit in on the Rooted class at West U Baptist with my bride. It was just good to open God’s Word together and to discuss it in a smaller group setting. I hope that you are planning to attend a Community Group at one of our campuses this weekend.
You see, this Sunday we launch a series called the “Lifted Life” where we will study one of Paul’s prayers in the book of Ephesians. Our hope is that each person that calls CityRise their church family will engage in our intentional discipleship pathway. We will share that with you this Sunday, and your first step, beyond attending worship, is being in a Community Group. It’s a great time to come back to one, and if you will come to our information desks, you can find a group that is built just for you.
Also, we have some exciting things kicking off this semester. Now that school's back in session, our Wednesday night kids and students programming have returned; our regular gatherings like Men's Bible Study, Open Door, MomCo, and others are meeting again; and we have several studies, groups, and discipleship opportunities beginning this month alongside some annual favorite events like the Father-Daughter Sock Hop and the Women's Winter Retreat, all within these first few weeks of the year.
To find more information about these events and more, visit our Events page or the Weekly Guide.
Lastly today, please take a moment to pray for the city of Los Angeles. These wildfires have caused historic damage and loss over such a widespread and populous area. Pray for the safety of those facing these flames, for those who have lost so much, and for the first responders' protection and focus so they can control these fires and save those who are in danger or in medical need. It will be a long road of recovery. Please keep this part of our country in your thoughts and prayers.
We'll see you on Sunday, Church Family.
Expecting Greater Things,
Pastor Roger
