A Note from Pastor Roger

Good afternoon, Church Family!

If you're like us here at CityRise, you're gearing up for new things coming. There's much on the horizon as we look out to the fall including new studies, the return of Wednesday nights and other regular gatherings, and new school years for our children, students, college students, teachers, and school admin staff. (Remember them in your prayers during these first weeks!) Additionally, I'm looking forward to updating you on our church's vision in a couple of Sundays!

But first, we have worship this coming Sunday on our campuses. If you are unable to join us in person, you’re welcome to be with us online during one of our livestreamed services through our CityRise app, on our livestreams page, or at youtube.com/cityriseorg.

Sight and Skeptics Night

August has been an important month the last few years because of our annual series, August Apologetics. It is essential that we Christians are able to defend our faith and worldview in today's society, and we at CityRise want to help by providing you with speakers and material that you can point to.

This coming Sunday is the first offering of August Apologetics for 2023, an advance screening of the movie Sight. Based on a true story, Sight is about Dr. Ming Wang and his mission to bring back vision to so many. This movie is one about science, drama, and faith.

Come see it for free Sunday night at West U Baptist at 5:00pm (doors open at 4:30pm) before it goes to theaters in October. There will be popcorn, free pizza to the first 200 attendees, and a special guest.
If you're ever interested in going on one of our many mission trips, visit our Global Missions page to see where we're going! If you can't make any the rest of this year, bookmark that page and check back when we update our schedule for next year.
The following weekend at West U Baptist—on Sunday, August 27 and Monday, August 28—will be the final two events, two evenings with world-renowned apologist Abdu Murray of Embrace the Truth!

  • Sunday, August 27 will be a night of evangelical training from 4-6pm
  • Monday, August 28 will be an open forum called "Skeptics Night," open to any questions.

No registration is required, and anyone is welcome to attend either night.
I highly encourage you to invite someone to one, both, or all three of these evenings, especially someone who is seeking truth!
It's going to be a great weekend, Church Family! I'll see you on Sunday.

Stay Expectant,
Pastor Roger
